James Slipp, baritone

James Slipp is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Music Performance at Keene State College in Keene, NH. He is a 21-year-old baritone actively performing at his college and in his community. As a transgender vocalist, he is dedicated to research and advocacy for transgender singers in vocal music. He has presented his research and experience regarding transmasculine vocal pedagogy at several academic and state conferences. 

He is currently studying voice under Dr. Daniel Carberg and taking secondary piano lessons with Dr. Christina Wright-Ivanova. At Keene State, he sings in Keene Vocal Consort (an Early music ensemble), KSC Concert Choir, Opera Workshop, and Keene Vocal Jazz. James also enjoys composing and playing euphonium in KSC Concert Band. He is a Collegiate Member of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) and has served as Vice-President of KSC American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) since 2022. He recently has had the pleasure of serving as Secretary on the Executive Board of Zenith Ensemble, Keene's professional choir. He also performs with the ensemble as a Zenith Scholar.

James has received masterclasses from Dr. Stephanie Weiss, mezzo-soprano, Dr. Matthew Leese, baritone, and Dr. Jamie-Rose Guarrine, soprano. Recent notable performances include being a featured artist in the Steinway All-Together Gala at Keene State College, performing with KSC Concert Choir in Einbeck, Germany, and performing Mahler's 2nd Symphony with NH Philharmonic.
